Tom Roelofs began his construction career working as a layout engineer during the summer while he was attending the University of Michigan.
Roelofs’ career has been marked by his versatility, as he has been able to function in various capacities, depending on the company and customer’s needs. He has been a Project Engineer, Estimator, Superintendent, Project Manager, Contract Manager, Assistant Estimating Manager, and Project Director. His background includes extensive experience in self-perform work – particularly earthwork, underground utilities, and concrete – as well as General Contracting, Construction Management, and Design Build work. Sectors have included Industrial, Commercial and Heavy Civil. This broad experience has suited him well for his current role of Operations Manager, which he assumed in 2007.
As Operations Manager, Roelofs is responsible for the overall performance of all DIG projects including: establishment of project objectives, procedures and performance standards; project progress; site safety monitoring; and controlling quality, costs, value engineering, timing and coaching the project teams. From pre-construction through to project closeout, his focus is on a successful project and a satisfied customer.
Roelofs holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan and he is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan.
